About Me

My photo
Illinois, United States
I am a band director at five private schools in Kankakee. Music is a big part of my life, but knitting and crafting are right up there too. I own a ridiculous stash of yarn, which I am slowly using... and replacing with better yarn... I tend to knit and crochet a lot, in class, out of class, while watching tv, while driving, pretty much constantly. I have been involved with crochet romantically for 15 years, and involved with knitting for 11 years. They sometimes get jealous of each other. I think its funny. Along with knitting and crocheting, I quilt, spin (drop spindle) and design patterns!!

Trip to NJ and stuff

Mom always wants pictures, so Greg and I were posing for her. She wanted my head closer to Greg. I think I dun good.
Me, Laura (my cousin), and Greg (brother). This is how they pose in New Jersey. Its kinda nerdy?
Mooooom! Take a picture of us! I got blue balls!
Now heres for the crafty stuff. I made Laura a huge quilt for her graduation. I didn't get any close ups yet, but I'm trying to get her to send me a couple pics of it! She loved it! Took me over 5 months. I love it, almost didn't give it away. but I am so proud of her! She is becoming a music major just like me!
Even Aunt Linda loved it!
She looked really surprised! I'm so happy she liked it!

I am currently working on Lace Ribbon Scarf by Veronik Avery. I love the pattern, the yarn is the color I want, but I just hope that it softens up in the wash when its done. It is running on the rough side... sigh...

Til next time!

Day to day knitting

Ok, so.
This is actually my second pair of socks, like I said, the first one went to a past boyfriend. I made these up so that I can get back into the swing of things. When it comes to knitting socks that is.

They turned out big, but they fit my mom just fine. She wants to use them as airport socks. Which I have no idea what that means....

They are loose, I used big needles like the pattern called for, but I felt that I was making slippers and not socks. No biggie, I just try again!
This is my "Dirty Vikings" shawl. Which I love with a passion! I love the colors, I love the pattern, and I cannot wait until I can wear it once it hits fall!
The pattern is
Waves of Leaves Shawl by Ijeoma Oluo
And it is very well written, and I highly recommend it!

Look at how pretty it is! Fall come faster! Cause I would be committing suicide if I decided to wear it in this weather!

More to come later when I have the time a patience to wait for the pics to upload.

Okily, lets do this thing.

Ok, here goes a partial catchup.
This is a baby blanket I crocheted, to sell in my Etsy shop. I used up some balls of yarn I had laying around, and I really like using treble crochet in order to create a design.

Next up is the third pair of socks that I have ever knit. First went to an old ex boyfriend, never got any pictures of them, he wore them once and then against my wishes, washed them in the machine. Which of course... they shrunk. So one days use...

The second pair was done just recently too, but I cant find the pics. So this is the third pair, next time smaller needles, more stitches.

So yeah, not too shabby. Bingo.
More later!
