About Me

My photo
Illinois, United States
I am a band director at five private schools in Kankakee. Music is a big part of my life, but knitting and crafting are right up there too. I own a ridiculous stash of yarn, which I am slowly using... and replacing with better yarn... I tend to knit and crochet a lot, in class, out of class, while watching tv, while driving, pretty much constantly. I have been involved with crochet romantically for 15 years, and involved with knitting for 11 years. They sometimes get jealous of each other. I think its funny. Along with knitting and crocheting, I quilt, spin (drop spindle) and design patterns!!

I follow your blog. The most interesting thing I ever made with yarn was my first pair of socks. It was a lace pattern. I could not believe I knit socks AND in a lace pattern. It was awesome, mindblowing, interesting and very educational. avennett AT verizon DOT net

I haven't done much with yarn besides knit with it but I will be learning how to crochet tomorrow.

I've been a follower of your blog for a bit now.

The most entertaining thing I've made with yarn is probably the Maile Sweater I finished a few weeks ago. It's got almost no seams...something I kind of like but it's really hard on my needles.

Maybe not thaaat interesting, but I made one of these a couple months ago-
It's been keeping me really warm :)

What do you think the most interesting thing you've ever made was?

I forgot to tell you the most interesting thing I have knitted:

I bootie that I never counted stitches on- I just went with it. Its too big for a baby but too small for anyone to really use- and I cant make a good match for it.

Teela- I really think the most interesting thing I ever made (though it was not knitting or crocheting) was a music analysis "embroidery". It was more of a dare from the teacher, took me wayyyyyy too long to do, but I got an A, and the respect of my analysis instructor!

Seriously the best project ever.

I want to enter! I guess the most interesting thing I've made lately was the Dark Mark Illusion scarf for my boyfriend for his birthday. To most people I think that would be a pretty boring project, but I really liked it. It had just enough going on to keep me going, but not too much to be overwhelming...and I wasn't worried that if I put it down I would make a mistake when I picked it back up!

Oh yeah, and I added you to my favorites on etsy...I'm HatGoesHere!

Sherra! You made me :) this morning when I woke up! Thank you so much for your purchase!
Dark Mark illusion scarf is pretty kick ass, so kudos to you. I have always wanted to try an illusion project, but I have not been able to bring myself to do so!

Sherra said...

You should try it! It's actually pretty simple, but I think it looks impressive. Once you start your first illusion project and realize what's really going on, I promise you'll come up with a billionty of your own patterns to use with this technique. I'm definitely going to make myself this robot scarf for next winter..here's a ravelry link:

I'm excited to get my stitch markers! My cats seem to have eaten my crappy plastic ones, so I decided it was high time to invest in some nice ones:)

Just started following this blog. The most interesting thing I've made with yarn is a pair of shorts that I knit.

Hi, I jsut started following your blog, and the most interesting think I've made with yarn is a fireplace cozy. OK, it was really just a curtain to block off a drafty, non-functional fireplace, but Fireplace Cozy sounds more interesting.

The piece of chocolate cake I crocheted for a friend is quite interesting I suppose :)
